A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the Coryell County juvenile board.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 152.0561, Human Resources Code, is
1-5 amended to read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 152.0561. CORYELL COUNTY. (a) The juvenile board of
1-7 Coryell County is composed of the county judge, the district judges
1-8 in Coryell County, and the judge of a <the> county court at law
1-9 that is designated as a juvenile court.
1-10 (b) The board shall select one of its members to serve as
1-11 chairman and chief administrative officer. The chairman serves a
1-12 one- or two-year term as determined by the board <The juvenile
1-13 court judge is the chairman of the board and its chief
1-14 administrative officer>.
1-15 (c) The commissioners court shall <may> pay the juvenile
1-16 board members additional annual compensation set by the
1-17 commissioners court at not less than the amount paid to a board
1-18 member under this section on October 1, 1994 <more than $2,400 for
1-19 the added duties imposed on the members>. Compensation under this
1-20 section must be the same amount for each board member <The
1-21 commissioners court may not pay the judge of the county court at
1-22 law more additional compensation than the other board members
1-23 receive>. The additional compensation is paid in equal monthly
1-24 installments from the general fund of the county.
2-1 (d) The board may apply for, accept, hold in trust, spend,
2-2 and use a gift, grant, or donation of land, money, or other
2-3 personal property from a government, corporate, personal, or other
2-4 source to finance adequate and effective probation programs and
2-5 services.
2-6 (e) Sections 152.0002, <152.0003,> 152.0004, <152.0005,>
2-7 152.0006, 152.0007, and 152.0008(a) <152.0008> do not apply to the
2-8 juvenile board of Coryell County.
2-9 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
2-10 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-11 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-12 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-13 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-14 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-15 passage, and it is so enacted.
2-16 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
2-17 Amend Sec. 152.0561 CORYELL COUNTY, by deleting present
2-18 subsection (a), line 6 through 9, and replacing it with new
2-19 subsection (a) to read as follows: "(a) The Juvenile Board of
2-20 Coryell County is composed of the County Judge, the District Judge
2-21 or Judges whose district includes Coryell County, and the Judges of
2-22 the County Courts-at-Law of Coryell County."
