A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to creation of the County Court at Law No. 2 of Tom Green
1-3 County.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 25.2281, Government Code, is amended to
1-6 read as follows:
1-7 Sec. 25.2281. TOM GREEN COUNTY. Tom Green County has the
1-8 following <one> statutory county courts: <court, the>
1-9 (1) County Court at Law of Tom Green County; and
1-10 (2) County Court at Law No. 2 of Tom Green County.
1-11 SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 25.2281, Government Code,
1-12 as amended by this Act, the County Court at Law No. 2 of Tom Green
1-13 County is created January 1, 1997, or on an earlier date determined
1-14 by the commissioners court by an order entered in its minutes.
1-15 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
1-20 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
1-21 Amend House Bill 3227 on page 1, following line 10, by
1-22 inserting a new Section 2 as follows and renumbering subsequent
1-23 sections:
1-24 SECTION 2. Section 25.2282, Government Code, is amended by
2-1 adding a new Subsection (a) to read as follows:
2-2 (a) A judge of County Court at Law No. 2 of Tom Green County
2-3 may not be assigned under Chapter 74 to serve as a visiting judge
2-4 in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson, Lubbock,
2-5 Midland, Tarrant, or Travis County.
2-6 Alonzo
