H.C.R. No. 9 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Texas has greatly benefitted from the tireless 1-2 service of countless members of local school boards, who give 1-3 freely of their time, talents, and energies to improve the public 1-4 education system of our state; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Such dedicated service is one of the purest 1-6 expressions of the grassroots democratic principles upon which our 1-7 nation is based; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Their commendable efforts have ensured that 1-9 decisions about our public schools are made within the community, 1-10 where proper consideration can be given to the specific needs of 1-11 the children and families of that area; furthermore, they have set 1-12 positive examples for our young people of the admirable tradition 1-13 of volunteerism; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Despite facing daily challenges in their task of 1-15 educating tomorrow's leaders, these esteemed individuals remain 1-16 dedicated to public service, and their outstanding commitment is 1-17 truly worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the 74th Texas Legislature hereby designate 1-19 the month of February 1995 as Public School Board Members Month in 1-20 Texas and commend the members of our local school boards on their 1-21 inspired service to the youth of our state.
