HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Donald Ray Lang on January 12, 1995,
1-2 at the age of 83, has brought a great loss to the many friends and
1-3 relatives of this distinguished Texan; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Lang received his undergraduate degree from
1-5 Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and went on to earn his law
1-6 degree from The University of Texas School of Law; an outstanding
1-7 student, he also was highly regarded on campus as the editor of the
1-8 yearbook, The Cactus; and
1-9 WHEREAS, He was well known throughout the Highlands community
1-10 for his successful career in banking, and he offered wise and
1-11 thoughtful counsel as the founding chairman of Highlands State
1-12 Bank; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Widely respected by his colleagues and peers
1-14 throughout his chosen profession, he also made many significant
1-15 contributions to the field of law as an esteemed member of the
1-16 State Bar of Texas for many years; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, Mr. Lang
1-18 maintained close ties to his community and generously served his
1-19 many friends and neighbors through his 50-year memberships with the
1-20 Crosby Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 261, the
1-21 Masonic Lodge, and the Grand Lodge of Iowa, Lodge No. 370; he also
1-22 enjoyed the close friendships he had formed as a valued member of
1-23 both the Sons of the American Revolution and Delta Theta Phi law
1-24 fraternity; and
2-1 WHEREAS, This dedicated civic leader was guided throughout
2-2 life's endeavors by an abiding religious faith, which he eloquently
2-3 expressed as a devout member of Highlands Methodist Church; and
2-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Lang was a man of great vision who devoted much
2-5 of his life to the betterment of his community, and though his
2-6 presence will be deeply missed, his unique spirit will surely live
2-7 on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he
2-8 touched; now, therefore, be it
2-9 RESOLVED, That the 74th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute
2-10 to the life of Donald Ray Lang and extend sincere sympathy to the
2-11 members of his family: to his beloved wife, Sadeane C. Lang; to his
2-12 daughters, Carol Lee Lang and Donna Kay Lang; to his son and
2-13 daughter-in-law, Daniel Ray Lang and Sharon Hogge Lang; to his
2-14 sister, Joyce Lang Newell; and to his many other friends and
2-15 relatives; and, be it further
2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-17 prepared for the members of his family, and that when the Texas
2-18 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in
2-19 memory of Donald Ray Lang.
