No. 69 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House April 3, 1995; 1-3 April 4, 1995, read first time and referred to Committee on State 1-4 Affairs; May 8, 1995, reported favorably by the following vote: 1-5 Yeas 12, Nays 0; May 8, 1995, sent to printer.) 1-6 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-7 WHEREAS, The Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair, which is 1-8 hosted annually by the city of Kerrville, is the premier festival 1-9 of its kind in the state; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Determined to provide Texans with an exceptional 1-11 event for artisans and connoisseurs of Texas handiwork, the Texas 1-12 Tourist Development Agency conducted a statewide search for an 1-13 ideal location and selected the campus of Schreiner College in 1-14 Kerrville as the site for the initial arts and crafts fair in 1972; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, Attendees are offered an exciting and enlightening 1-17 experience, with beautifully crafted works at every turn, unique 1-18 entertainments for adults and children, and hearty helpings of food 1-19 and drink, all wrapped in the atmosphere of an old-fashioned 1-20 country fair; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Given charge of the fair in 1975 and overseeing its 1-22 growth and development in the ensuing years, the Texas Arts and 1-23 Crafts Educational Foundation, Inc., has created the highest 1-24 possible standards for this annual celebration to ensure that this 1-25 showcase event is operated exclusively for charitable and 1-26 educational purposes, and its outstanding achievements in this 1-27 regard are indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be 1-28 it 1-29 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-30 hereby confer on the Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair in Kerrville 1-31 the distinction of being the official arts and crafts fair of Texas 1-32 and that its organizers be extended heartfelt best wishes for 1-33 continued success in the future; and, be it further 1-34 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-35 prepared for the Texas Arts and Crafts Educational Foundation, Inc. 1-36 * * * * *
