No. 84 74R5499 PFG-D CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Legislature are always 1-2 honored to have students visit the State Capitol, where they can 1-3 learn firsthand about the responsibilities of their elected 1-4 officials; and 1-5 WHEREAS, On March 10, 1995, an accomplished group of young 1-6 men from St. Mark's School of Texas are visiting Austin and the 1-7 Capitol as participants in the fourth annual Living Legends Texas 1-8 History Trip being sponsored by their school; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A prestigious all-male institution in Dallas, St. 1-10 Mark's School prepares its students to be tomorrow's leaders by 1-11 providing them with a well-rounded curriculum that balances 1-12 challenging instruction in the arts and sciences with sound 1-13 physical, moral, and religious training; and 1-14 WHEREAS, At the school, these young scholars acquire an 1-15 enthusiasm for learning that is consistently demonstrated by their 1-16 outstanding performance on national examinations; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Equally adept on the playing field and in the civic 1-18 arena, they rank high among area contenders in sporting events 1-19 while regularly donating their time to worthwhile service projects 1-20 in their community; and 1-21 WHEREAS, The 90 seventh-graders who are currently visiting 1-22 Austin have been studying Texas history and plan to expand their 1-23 knowledge by touring the Institute of Texan Cultures, the Omni, the 1-24 Lone Star Brewery, Natural Bridge Caverns, and the Alamo and the 2-1 other historic missions of San Antonio in the company of faculty 2-2 members from St. Mark's; and 2-3 WHEREAS, This enlightening journey should prove to be an 2-4 educational and memorable event in the lives of this exemplary 2-5 group of young Texans, and their interest in our state's rich 2-6 history and government is indeed commendable and deserving of 2-7 special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-9 hereby welcome the students of St. Mark's School to the Capitol on 2-10 this day and extend warmest best wishes to them for an enjoyable 2-11 and rewarding visit to Austin; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for the students of St. Mark's School as an expression of 2-14 high regard by the Legislature of the State of Texas.
