H.C.R. No. 111 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, With the observance of her 100th birthday on March 1-2 30, 1995, Helen Marie Angelo will commemorate another important 1-3 milestone in her long and fruitful life; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Midland, she is the daughter 1-5 of Patrick and Mary Katherine Moran and was born in Moundsville, 1-6 West Virginia, in 1895; and 1-7 WHEREAS, When she was a young woman, she wed Ernest Angelo, 1-8 and the happy couple enjoyed a deeply fulfilling 50-year union that 1-9 was blessed by the birth of three cherished children; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Because Dr. Angelo's career as a university 1-11 professor required frequent moves, Mrs. Angelo made her family's 1-12 home in several communities across the nation before settling in 1-13 Midland 24 years ago; she has been well-regarded in each community 1-14 as a devoted wife, a loving parent, and a loyal friend and neighbor 1-15 who always finds time in her busy day to offer fellowship to 1-16 others; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The Angelos were patriotic and dutiful citizens who 1-18 sought to instill in their offspring the traditional family values 1-19 of hard work, achievement, and community involvement, and they were 1-20 amply rewarded for their efforts by the successes of each of their 1-21 children; Patsy enjoyed a noteworthy practice as a physician, while 1-22 Ernest distinguished himself as the mayor of Midland from 1972 to 1-23 1980, and Katy has positively affected the lives of countless 1-24 youths in her community as an elementary school teacher; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Now surrounded by a loving family that has grown to 2-2 include 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, Mrs. Angelo 2-3 continues to enjoy her favorite pastimes, including reading, 2-4 politics, and spirited discussions on world affairs; and 2-5 WHEREAS, A devoutly religious woman, she has been nurtured by 2-6 an abiding religious faith that she has eloquently expressed as a 2-7 lifelong member of the Catholic Church; and 2-8 WHEREAS, Throughout her many rewarding years, this gracious 2-9 lady has brought joy and happiness to the many people whose lives 2-10 she has touched; a much-admired member of her community, 2-11 Mrs. Angelo has earned the special love and affection of all who 2-12 are privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-14 hereby honor Helen Marie Angelo and extend warmest congratulations 2-15 to this lovely lady on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and, be 2-16 it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Mrs. Angelo as an expression of high regard by the 2-19 Legislature of the State of Texas.
