                              HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, On December 29, 1995, the State of Texas celebrates
    1-2  its 150th anniversary as a State of the United States;
    1-3        WHEREAS, During all its history, the Texas Department of
    1-4  Transportation has issued automobile license plates of the highest
    1-5  quality, color, and design, which have been expertly and
    1-6  efficiently manufactured by the Texas Department of Criminal
    1-7  Justice; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, In light of the upcoming anniversary of the 150
    1-9  years of statehood, it is the desire and sense of the Texas
   1-10  Legislature that new license plates be issued commemorating
   1-11  graphically in the best possible way the spirit of celebration so
   1-12  that all Texas can be proud of such plates; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The display of such license plates by the travel of
   1-14  Texas citizens will provide a widespread avenue for exhibiting the
   1-15  States's spirit; now, therefore, be it
   1-16        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-17  hereby recommends that the Texas Transportation Commission
   1-18  incorporate the slogan "150 Years of Statehood," as well as a
   1-19  "shooting star" logo into its design of Texas' automobile license
   1-20  plate, until March 1, 1996, when the Commission shall revert to the
   1-21  previous "The Lone Star State" design; and, be it further
   1-22        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   1-23  prepared and forwarded to the members of the Texas Transportation
    2-1  Commission as an expression of the sentiment of the members of the
    2-2  Texas Legislature.
