No. 112 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House March 29, 1995; 1-3 March 29, 1995, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Administration; April 19, 1995, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 6, Nays 0; April 19, 1995, sent to printer.) 1-6 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-7 WHEREAS, On December 29, 1995, the State of Texas celebrates 1-8 its 150th anniversary as a State of the United States; 1-9 WHEREAS, During all its history, the Texas Department of 1-10 Transportation has issued automobile license plates of the highest 1-11 quality, color, and design, which have been expertly and 1-12 efficiently manufactured by the Texas Department of Criminal 1-13 Justice; and 1-14 WHEREAS, In light of the upcoming anniversary of the 150 1-15 years of statehood, it is the desire and sense of the Texas 1-16 Legislature that new license plates be issued commemorating 1-17 graphically in the best possible way the spirit of celebration so 1-18 that all Texas can be proud of such plates; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The display of such license plates by the travel of 1-20 Texas citizens will provide a widespread avenue for exhibiting the 1-21 States's spirit; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-23 hereby recommends that the Texas Transportation Commission 1-24 incorporate the slogan "150 Years of Statehood," as well as a 1-25 "shooting star" logo into its design of Texas' automobile license 1-26 plate, until March 1, 1996, when the Commission shall revert to the 1-27 previous "The Lone Star State" design; and, be it further 1-28 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-29 prepared and forwarded to the members of the Texas Transportation 1-30 Commission as an expression of the sentiment of the members of the 1-31 Texas Legislature. 1-32 * * * * *
