HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature is proud to honor John Gordon
1-2 for the many significant contributions he has made to the
1-3 betterment of The Colony and congratulate him on his most recent
1-4 honor as the recipient of that community's Citizen of the Year
1-5 Award; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon is a dedicated and public-spirited Texan
1-7 who has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life in his
1-8 community and his remarkable contributions will continue to
1-9 positively affect the citizens of The Colony for years to come; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to education issues, he initiated
1-11 the Youth Leadership Program at The Colony High School, and through
1-12 his noteworthy efforts, has helped prepare countless youths to
1-13 become wise and thoughtful decision-makers ready to lead Texas into
1-14 the coming century; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon also has been active in the field of
1-16 economic development, and through his involvement with The Colony
1-17 2000 and the local chamber of commerce, he has greatly enhanced the
1-18 local business community; and
1-19 WHEREAS, A man of boundless energy and enthusiasm, he has
1-20 gone on to contribute his time, talents, and energy to the benefit
1-21 of several worthy organizations, including the Rotary Club and the
1-22 Knights of Columbus, and also is active in his church; and
1-23 WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Gordon has set an
1-24 outstanding example of community involvement, and he is indeed
2-1 worthy of special praise and recognition on the occasion of his
2-2 most recent honor; now, therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-4 hereby commend John Gordon for his exceptional service to the
2-5 residents of his community and congratulate him on his most recent
2-6 honor as the recipient of The Colony's Citizen of the Year Award;
2-7 and, be it further
2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-9 prepared for Mr. Gordon as an expression of high regard by the
2-10 Texas Legislature.
