                                 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature is proud to commend the
    1-2  Honorable Bill Longo for the many significant contributions he has
    1-3  made to the betterment of The Colony and congratulate him on his
    1-4  most recent honor as the recipient of that community's Outstanding
    1-5  Service Award; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A dedicated and public-spirited man, Mr. Longo has
    1-7  served his community in a variety of ways throughout the years; he
    1-8  began his distinguished career in public life as a member of the
    1-9  town's original homeowners group, which was established before the
   1-10  city was incorporated in 1977; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Well versed in political matters, he later went on
   1-12  to serve his fellow citizens with integrity and distinction as both
   1-13  mayor and city council member, and his wise and thoughtful guidance
   1-14  helped the city immeasurably during its formative years; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, He also worked toward the benefit of his community
   1-16  as a private citizen, and as a member of the local municipal
   1-17  utility district he was instrumental in ensuring the city's water
   1-18  supply well into the coming century; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Although he currently is retired from public life,
   1-20  Mr. Longo continues to work for the benefit of the elderly as a
   1-21  valued member of Senior Citizens of The Colony and the American
   1-22  Association of Retired Persons; he has also led efforts to make The
   1-23  Colony a World War II Commemorative Community and serves as
   1-24  chairman of that committee; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, In addition, he and his gracious wife, Ida,
    2-2  generously volunteer their time, talents, and energy to the youth
    2-3  of their community as tutors at Morningside Elementary School; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, A man of great vision, Mr. Longo has worked
    2-5  tirelessly for the betterment of his community, and he is indeed
    2-6  worthy of special praise and recognition on the occasion of his
    2-7  most recent honor; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
    2-9  hereby commend the Honorable Bill Longo for his outstanding
   2-10  commitment to his community and congratulate him on his most recent
   2-11  honor as the recipient of The Colony's Outstanding Service Award;
   2-12  and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for Mr. Longo as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-15  Legislature.
