No. 152 74R9256 PFG-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The continued vitality and prosperity of Texas rests 1-2 largely on a strong, diversified state economy that can compete in 1-3 both national and international markets; and 1-4 WHEREAS, To this end, the Texas Economic Development Council 1-5 was founded in 1961 to recruit new industry to Texas and to keep 1-6 existing industry in the state by maintaining a favorable business 1-7 climate; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Situated at the forefront of groups working on 1-9 economic development issues and strategies, this exemplary 1-10 organization provides its members with vital information, 1-11 educational opportunities, and legislative services, while 1-12 remaining attuned to the changing state of the Texas economy by 1-13 keeping abreast of the many important issues facing professionals 1-14 in the business community today; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The organization's 725 members represent a wide 1-16 range of occupations, including doctors, lawyers, developers, real 1-17 estate professionals, and civic leaders, who pool their collective 1-18 knowledge and expertise to encourage positive business conditions 1-19 and to foster new job growth and investment in our state; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Texas Economic Development 1-21 Council has provided crucial leadership on economic development 1-22 issues and its diligence has resulted in increased job growth and 1-23 capital investment for the Lone Star State; in light of its 1-24 significant achievements in this regard, this extraordinary group 2-1 indeed merits special praise and recognition at this time; now, 2-2 therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-4 hereby honor the Texas Economic Development Council for more than 2-5 three decades of outstanding contributions to our state's economic 2-6 success; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for the Texas Economic Development Council as an 2-9 expression of high regard by the Legislature of the State of Texas.
