No. 159 74R9976 KMP-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, From October 13 through 15, 1995, the Goose Creek 1-2 Navy Communities Foundation will sponsor the first annual Boom Town 1-3 Blow Out Celebration, a spectacular festival featuring food, 1-4 activities, and entertainment that is sure to delight the more than 1-5 30,000 Texans expected to attend; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A tribute to the rich heritage and prosperity of the 1-7 communities of Goose Creek, Pelly, and Baytown, the Boom Town Blow 1-8 Out will raise funds for local beautification projects; volunteers 1-9 will operate more than 20 food booths during this exciting 1-10 three-day event; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Numerous activities are planned for the first annual 1-12 Boom Town Blow Out, including airboat rides, helicopter rides, hot 1-13 air balloon rides, children's rides, mud volleyball games, and arts 1-14 and crafts booths; two stages will offer continuous entertainment, 1-15 and children of all ages will be treated to clown shows, juggling 1-16 displays, magic lessons, and rock skipping lessons; and 1-17 WHEREAS, With the participation of the City of Baytown, the 1-18 Downtown Merchants Association, and Lee College, the festival will 1-19 also feature a rollerblade race, wheelbarrow race, wheelchair race, 1-20 and family fun run; there will also be numerous informational 1-21 booths and educational exhibitions for the benefit of the entire 1-22 Boom Town community; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Additional sponsorship for this delightful affair is 1-24 being provided by Bayer, Exxon, the Baytown Sun, the City of 2-1 Baytown, the Goose Creek Stream Committee, the Hispanic Chamber of 2-2 Commerce, Eshbach Retirement Planning, San Jacinto Methodist 2-3 Hospital, and Bay Coast Hospital; and 2-4 WHEREAS, The Boom Town Blow Out will offer children and 2-5 adults alike an opportunity to set aside the cares of daily life 2-6 and celebrate the natural beauty and prosperity of one of our 2-7 state's most exciting areas; a tribute to the community spirit of 2-8 many dedicated Texans, this enchanting celebration is truly 2-9 deserving of special legislative support; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-11 hereby declare October 13-15, 1995 to be Boom Town Blow Out Days in 2-12 Texas and commend all those associated with this exceptional 2-13 festival for their hard work in ensuring its success; and, be it 2-14 further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for prominent display at the Boom Town Blow Out 2-17 Celebration as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-18 Legislature.
