                              HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Clarksville High School Blue Tigers boys'
    1-2  basketball team has achieved the pinnacle of success by winning the
    1-3  1995 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 3A state
    1-4  championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Blue Tigers took to the floor at the Frank C.
    1-6  Erwin Special Events Center in Austin for their state tournament
    1-7  semifinal matchup against Rockdale High School and held off a
    1-8  determined effort by their opponent to win 72-62; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Clarksville entered the championship game having won
   1-10  their previous 19 contests; led by Class 3A Tournament most
   1-11  valuable player Jeff Runels, they performed like true champions,
   1-12  overwhelming Madisonville High School 87-69 to claim the coveted
   1-13  crown and finish their season with a remarkable record of 34 wins
   1-14  and two defeats; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding accomplishments were the
   1-16  result of selfless dedication to the team concept by members Eric
   1-17  Coleman, Zed Page, Rodney Garnes, Brad Hall, Jeff Runels, Nathan
   1-18  Titus, Cliff Edwards, Dexter Patrick, Alex Phillips, Jamichael
   1-19  Watkins, Tim Colbert, Ronomeke Richardson, Boris Nickerson, Jeff
   1-20  Edwards, Wesley Lewis, and Cory Willis; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Head coach Clyde Carlisle provided tireless
   1-22  leadership, schooling his players in hardwood fundamentals and
   1-23  instilling in them an unquenchable will to win, and he was ably
   1-24  supported in his efforts by assistant coach Bobby Puckett and
    2-1  managers Larry Doolittle, Lamichael Moore, James Hall, Cal Reep,
    2-2  and Kevin Moore; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young men, along with their
    2-4  coaches and staff, are a tremendous source of pride to the students
    2-5  and faculty of Clarksville High School, as well as to their many
    2-6  supporters in the community, and the team's exceptional achievement
    2-7  is indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at this time;
    2-8  now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
   2-10  hereby congratulate the Clarksville High School Blue Tigers boys'
   2-11  basketball team on winning the 1995 UIL Class 3A state championship
   2-12  and extend to the team and its coaches sincere best wishes for
   2-13  continued success in the future; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-15  for the team members and coaching staff and for prominent display
   2-16  at Clarksville High School as an expression of high regard by the
   2-17  Legislature of the State of Texas.
