                              HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, On August 13, 1994, Amy Grunwald was selected from a
    1-2  field of highly qualified candidates to hold the title of the 1995
    1-3  Texas Junior Miss, having already earned the title of New Braunfels
    1-4  Junior Miss; this summer she will travel to Mobile, Alabama, to
    1-5  represent the Lone Star State at the America's Junior Miss Program;
    1-6  and
    1-7        WHEREAS, A senior at New Braunfels High School, Ms. Grunwald
    1-8  is an active participant in student government and currently serves
    1-9  as vice president of the student council and student body; she has
   1-10  also played a key role in the development of the school's
   1-11  innovative broadcast journalism program; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, In addition to her work as a campus leader, this
   1-13  fine young Texan is also an outstanding scholar who has found time
   1-14  to complement her studies with a wide range of extracurricular
   1-15  activities; a drum major in the Mighty Unicorn Band for the past
   1-16  two years, Ms. Grunwald enjoys serving as the teen representative
   1-17  for Family Outreach of Comal County when she is not working
   1-18  part-time at Gruene Marketplatz; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, As this year's Texas Junior Miss, this exceptional
   1-20  individual has made many invaluable contributions toward the
   1-21  betterment of her community and state; during her tenure she has
   1-22  traveled throughout the Lone Star State to speak before local
   1-23  chapters of the Girl Scouts of America and many other civic and
   1-24  charitable associations; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, At the state junior miss competition held last year
    2-2  in Seguin, Ms. Grunwald was selected by her peers to hold the title
    2-3  of "Spirit of Junior Miss," a designation awarded to the candidate
    2-4  who best embodies the ideals and goals of the Junior Miss Program,
    2-5  and it is indeed fitting at this time that she be given special
    2-6  legislative recognition for her accomplishments; now, therefore, be
    2-7  it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
    2-9  hereby commend Amy Grunwald for winning the 1995 Texas Junior Miss
   2-10  competition and extend to her best wishes for continued success as
   2-11  she represents her state at the national level; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for Ms. Grunwald as an expression of high regard by the
   2-14  Texas Legislature.
