No. 177 74R11292 PAN-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Every two years, the members of the legislature 1-2 gather in Austin to examine, discuss, and act on issues of pressing 1-3 import to the state and have a mere 140 days in which to accomplish 1-4 the monumental task placed before them; and 1-5 WHEREAS, For many legislators, just getting their office set 1-6 up and arranged in an organized fashion could take up a great deal 1-7 of the time they need to attend to their legislative duties were it 1-8 not for the unsung heroes of the Capitol Complex, the secretaries 1-9 of the Texas House of Representatives and Senate; and 1-10 WHEREAS, These dedicated employees have elevated planning to 1-11 an art form, and their proven efficiency with such painstaking 1-12 matters as coordinating office moves not only results in offices 1-13 that are functional and effective but also creates pleasant 1-14 settings that are evocative of the constituencies they represent; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, Secretaries must wear many hats each day, organizing 1-17 schedules, serving as liaisons between members, state agencies, and 1-18 other governmental entities, making travel arrangements, serving as 1-19 social planners and decorators, and helping to provide that 1-20 personal touch to the folks back home through correspondence and 1-21 phone calls; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Loyal to the core and dedicated to providing quality 1-23 work, the secretaries of the house and senate serve as the backbone 1-24 of the legislature and their exemplary efforts are greatly 2-1 appreciated by their employers, whose work would increase tenfold 2-2 without their able assistance; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-4 hereby recognize April 26, 1995, as Secretaries Day and honor the 2-5 outstanding secretaries of the Texas House of Representatives and 2-6 Senate for their exceptional contributions to the members of this 2-7 legislature and the citizens they represent.
