H.C.R. No. 181 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, On April 19, 1995, the family and friends of the 1-2 late Herb Walne, Jr., celebrated the continuation of his 1-3 entrepreneurial vision with the opening of Herb's Paint & Body Shop 1-4 #4, the latest addition to Mr. Walne's successful and highly 1-5 respected chain of auto repair facilities; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Walne started his business with a single service 1-7 station in 1956; he later added a complete nine-stall garage and 1-8 automated car wash, and the success of that venture led him to 1-9 establish Herb's Paint & Body Shop #1 in 1962; and 1-10 WHEREAS, More than 30 years later, the chain has grown to 1-11 include three more body shops and a full-service auto, residential, 1-12 and commercial glass company; the chain's reputation has grown as 1-13 well, for Mr. Walne's shops are renowned throughout the Dallas area 1-14 as the best collision-repair facilities in the Metroplex region; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, Highly regarded for their expertise, hard work, and 1-17 attention to detail, the mechanics at all of the Herb's Paint & 1-18 Body Shop locations are skilled in today's complex automobile 1-19 technology, and the shops utilize the most advanced diagnostic and 1-20 repair equipment available; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Yet the main concern of the business is still 1-22 customer satisfaction, just as it was when Mr. Walne opened his 1-23 first station nearly 40 years ago; by placing the needs of the 1-24 customer ahead of profit, Mr. Walne established a loyal clientele 2-1 that has expanded steadily over the years, and today his shops 2-2 serve many second- and third-generation customers; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Since Mr. Walne's death in 1986, the business has 2-4 been run by his wife, Frances Walne, and his son, Alan Walne; they 2-5 have been joined in this endeavor by operating partners Glenn 2-6 Payne, Tom Dance, Mark McDonald, and Jimmy Don Burris, all of whom 2-7 remain dedicated to Mr. Walne's high standards of professional 2-8 service and customer satisfaction; and 2-9 WHEREAS, The outstanding success of Herb Walne's automotive 2-10 shops is a tribute to both the high ideals on which they were 2-11 founded and to the hard work and dedication of their founder; 2-12 Mr. Walne demonstrated that personal integrity and fair business 2-13 practices build a solid foundation for success, and his 2-14 achievements are indeed worthy of highest praise and recognition; 2-15 now, therefore, be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-17 hereby honor the late Herb Walne, Jr., on the occasion of the 2-18 opening of Herb's Paint & Body Shop #4 and extend to the 2-19 proprietors of that establishment warmest best wishes for many more 2-20 years of continued success; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-22 prepared for the Walne family as an expression of high regard by 2-23 the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
