                              HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of H. L. "Hub" King on June 14, 1994, at
    1-2  the age of 69, has brought a great loss to the many friends and
    1-3  relatives of this distinguished Texan; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. King was born September 11,
    1-5  1924, in Callahan County and was graduated from San Antonio Tech
    1-6  High School; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Like many of his generation, he was a dutiful and
    1-8  patriotic man who came to the aid of his country during World War
    1-9  II, distinguishing himself as a member of the United States Air
   1-10  Force, 1st Composit Group, 1st Ordnance Division; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Known throughout Terry County for his successful
   1-12  career in agriculture, Mr. King began farming in 1946; he was an
   1-13  outstanding businessman as well, and he immensely aided crop
   1-14  production with the development of his custom harvesting business
   1-15  in 1977; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Highly regarded throughout his chosen field, he
   1-17  continued to work for the betterment of agricultural issues as
   1-18  South Plains chairman of the National Cotton Council and as state
   1-19  director of the Texas Farm Bureau, which honored him for his many
   1-20  years of exceptional service by naming him Man of the Year in Texas
   1-21  for 1973; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mr. King was further recognized for his numerous
   1-23  contributions to the agricultural profession with the prestigious
   1-24  Silver Spur Award; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Throughout his many endeavors, he was sustained by a
    2-2  deep and abiding religious faith, which he eloquently expressed as
    2-3  a devout member of the Brownfield Church of Christ; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Mr. King was a man of great energy and enthusiasm
    2-5  who devoted much of his life to serving the needs of his community;
    2-6  though his special presence will be deeply missed by all who knew
    2-7  him, his unique spirit will surely live on in the hearts and minds
    2-8  of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
   2-10  hereby pay tribute to the life of H. L. "Hub" King and extend
   2-11  sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his beloved wife
   2-12  of 48 years, Fay Marie Lang King; to his son, Walter King; to his
   2-13  three daughters, Kathy Brimberry, Glenda Ranee, and Jena Shepherd;
   2-14  to his brothers, Alvin King and M. V. Stuteville; to his 10
   2-15  grandchildren; and to his many other friends and relatives; and, be
   2-16  it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-18  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-19  House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in
   2-20  memory of H. L. "Hub" King.
