                              HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The State of Texas has a proud and distinctive
    1-2  heritage in the field of aviation that, throughout its storied
    1-3  history, has been rich in innovation, deed, and accomplishment; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Since its founding, the Lone Star Flight Museum of
    1-5  Galveston, an 85,000-square-foot facility housing one of the finest
    1-6  collections of restored aircraft in the nation, has been dedicated
    1-7  to the principle of preserving this legacy of aviation history for
    1-8  the public; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The museum's magnificent collection of aircraft,
   1-10  many of which are exhibited at air shows, includes vintage
   1-11  fighters, bombers, liaison trainers, and executive planes; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, In addition to its vintage aircraft, the Lone Star
   1-13  Flight Museum also boasts superb displays of historic photographs,
   1-14  engines, documents, educational text, illustrations of the
   1-15  Galveston Army Air Field, World War II era vehicles, nose art, a
   1-16  detailed scale model of the U.S.S. Hornet, and the Perkins
   1-17  Collection, a significant compilation of signed prints depicting
   1-18  leadership and historic milestones in aviation; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, For its exceptional work in restoring, maintaining,
   1-20  and making available these historic aircraft for public viewing,
   1-21  the Lone Star Flight Museum has been designated a World War II
   1-22  Commemorative Community by the United States Department of Defense
   1-23  and was selected to participate in the Spirit of Flight, Tour '95,
   1-24  program; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Those currently serving as officers of the board of
    2-2  trustees of the Lone Star Flight Museum are Robert L. Waltrip,
    2-3  chairman; Steve Fredrich, treasurer; Sam Rizzo, secretary; and
    2-4  Ralph S. Royce, executive director; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, The Lone Star Flight Museum of Galveston represents
    2-6  the highest aspirations of those Texans who have labored to
    2-7  preserve our state's unique and valuable aviation heritage, and
    2-8  their efforts are truly worthy of special legislative recognition;
    2-9  now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
   2-11  hereby designate the Lone Star Flight Museum of Galveston the Texas
   2-12  Aviation Hall of Fame; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for prominent display at the Lone Star Flight Museum as an
   2-15  expression of high regard by the Legislature of the State of Texas.
