                              HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, On June 12, 1995, Darby Basham, Michelle Dragoo,
    1-2  Jodi Fulfer, Tamarie Hawkins, Courtney Heinemann, Michelle Long,
    1-3  and Laura Vaden will be honored as recipients of the Gold Award,
    1-4  the highest achievement given in Girl Scouting, and their success
    1-5  is indeed deserving of special recognition; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, All of these accomplished young women are members of
    1-7  the Permian Basin Girl Scout Council, and they will receive their
    1-8  awards at the Statewide Girl Scout Gold Award Ceremony at the State
    1-9  Capitol; a reception in their honor will be held afterward at the
   1-10  Governor's Mansion, where Governor George Bush will give the
   1-11  keynote address; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The Gold Award recognizes young women for their
   1-13  commitment to themselves, their community, their world, and their
   1-14  future; each candidate for this prestigious honor must complete an
   1-15  intensive, four-month project that builds on the skills she has
   1-16  learned throughout her years in Girl Scouting; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, By encouraging young women to exercise leadership,
   1-18  explore career opportunities, and discover more about themselves,
   1-19  the Girl Scout program builds the confidence, self-awareness, and
   1-20  community spirit of our future leaders; those who complete the
   1-21  challenging requirements of the Gold Award demonstrate the
   1-22  perseverance and discipline that are vital to success in life; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The maturity, dedication, and spirit exhibited by
   1-24  these outstanding young women in pursuit of their goal truly
    2-1  exemplify the noblest ideals of the Girl Scout program, and their
    2-2  success in this endeavor is surely indicative of the great heights
    2-3  they will aspire to and reach throughout their lives; now,
    2-4  therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
    2-6  hereby honor the Gold Award recipients of the Permian Basin Girl
    2-7  Scout Council and extend to them warmest best wishes for success in
    2-8  all their future endeavors; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-10  prepared for them as an expression of highest regard by the
   2-11  Legislature of the State of Texas.
