                              HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The 74th Legislature of the State of Texas is proud
    1-2  to honor the Texas Task Force for Tiltrotor Technology for its
    1-3  tireless efforts in championing this innovative form of flight and
    1-4  its associated technologies; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Texas-based Bell Helicopter Textron has made
    1-6  significant contributions to the development of a revolutionary new
    1-7  aircraft, the V-22 Osprey, which holds the potential for widespread
    1-8  military and civil applications across the globe; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Capable of taking off like a helicopter and flying
   1-10  like a conventional turbojet aircraft, the V-22 Osprey represents a
   1-11  new generation of aviation technology, and its production is
   1-12  capable of creating a broad-based international market; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Military leaders have already identified the V-22
   1-14  Osprey as a top priority for future procurement, and the civilian
   1-15  aviation industry also fully recognizes its extensive commercial
   1-16  applications, particularly in the burgeoning fields of intercity
   1-17  and rural commuting, as well as emergency medical service air
   1-18  transportation; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Full production of the V-22 Osprey is estimated to
   1-20  have a significant impact on the economy of Texas, potentially
   1-21  adding more than 49,000 permanent jobs and generating $1.4 billion
   1-22  a year in additional earnings for the state; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The members of the bipartisan Texas Task Force for
   1-24  Tiltrotor Technology have demonstrated exemplary diligence in their
    2-1  efforts to secure production of the V-22 Osprey and launch Texas as
    2-2  the world center for tiltrotor technology, and their actions in
    2-3  this regard, as well as the support shown for this project by the
    2-4  members of the Texas congressional delegation, indeed merit special
    2-5  legislative praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
    2-7  hereby commend the members of the Texas Task Force for Tiltrotor
    2-8  Technology and join with them in expressing sincere appreciation to
    2-9  the members of the Texas congressional delegation and the White
   2-10  House for their past and continued support to the production of the
   2-11  V-22 Osprey; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for the members of the Texas Task Force for Tiltrotor
   2-14  Technology as an expression of high regard by the Legislature of
   2-15  the State of Texas.
