                                  A JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing a constitutional amendment to allow peace officers to
    1-2  serve as notaries public.
    1-3        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Section 26, Article IV, Texas Constitution, is
    1-5  amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
    1-6        (c)  Notwithstanding Subsections (a) and (b) of this section,
    1-7  the legislature may provide that peace officers may serve as
    1-8  notaries public when engaged in the performance of their duties for
    1-9  matters arising in relation to those duties.
   1-10        SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
   1-11  submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 1995.
   1-12  The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
   1-13  proposition:  "The constitutional amendment to allow peace officers
   1-14  to serve as notaries public."
