                                  A JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing a constitutional amendment reducing the amount of general
    1-2  obligation bonds authorized for the issuance for undertakings
    1-3  related to a superconducting super collider research facility.
    1-4        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 49-g(a), Article III, Texas Constitution,
    1-6  as adopted pursuant to H.J.R. No. 88, Acts of the 70th Legislature,
    1-7  Regular Session, 1987, is amended to read as follows:
    1-8        (a)  The legislature may authorize (1) the appropriate agency
    1-9  to issue up to $250 <$500> million in general obligation bonds and
   1-10  to use the proceeds of the bonds (without further appropriation) to
   1-11  establish a superconducting super collider fund to be used in any
   1-12  manner appropriate to fund undertakings related to a
   1-13  superconducting super collider research facility sponsored or
   1-14  authorized by the United States government, and (2) the appropriate
   1-15  agency to grant land or property, whether or not acquired from
   1-16  proceeds of the bonds, to the United States government for
   1-17  undertakings related to a superconducting super collider research
   1-18  facility.  The superconducting super collider fund shall contain a
   1-19  project account, an interest and sinking account and such other
   1-20  accounts as may be authorized by the legislature.  The fund shall
   1-21  be composed of the proceeds of the bonds authorized by this
   1-22  section, together with any income from investment of money in the
   1-23  fund, amounts received pursuant to Subsection (b) hereof, and any
   1-24  other amounts authorized to be deposited in the fund by the
    2-1  legislature.
    2-2        SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
    2-3  submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 1995.
    2-4  The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
    2-5  proposition:  "The constitutional amendment reducing the amount of
    2-6  general obligation bonds authorized for undertakings related to the
    2-7  superconducting super collider research facility from $500 million
    2-8  to $250 million."
