                                  A JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing certain persons
    1-2  under the age of 18 to vote in a primary election.
    1-3        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Article VI, Texas Constitution, is amended by
    1-5  adding Section 1a to read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 1a.  The legislature by general law may provide for
    1-7  voting in a primary election by a person who:
    1-8              (1)  will be 18 years of age or older on the date of
    1-9  the subsequent general election for state and county officers; and
   1-10              (2)  satisfies the other applicable requirements for
   1-11  eligibility to vote.
   1-12        SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
   1-13  submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 1995.
   1-14  The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
   1-15  proposition:  "The constitutional amendment authorizing a person
   1-16  who will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the general
   1-17  election for state and county officers to vote in the preceding
   1-18  primary election."
