                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 5, Article III, Texas
    1-2  Constitution, the governor has submitted to the 74th Legislature as
    1-3  an emergency the matter of legislation related to the
    1-4  reestablishment and operation of the State Board of Dental
    1-5  Examiners and to the regulation of the practice of dentistry and
    1-6  dental hygiene; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The unusual circumstances of this emergency require
    1-8  special procedures to enable the house to consider this matter in
    1-9  the most expeditious manner possible; now, therefore, be it
   1-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-11  Legislature hereby create the Select Committee on the Dental
   1-12  Practice Act for the exclusive purpose of considering and making
   1-13  recommendations on legislation relating to the reestablishment and
   1-14  operation of the State Board of Dental Examiners and to the
   1-15  practice of dentistry and dental hygiene; and, be it further
   1-16        RESOLVED, That the committee be composed of 11 members
   1-17  appointed by the speaker and that the speaker designate a chair and
   1-18  vice chair from among the members; and, be it further
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the committee have the same authority as is
   1-20  conferred on standing committees by law or rule of the house; and,
   1-21  be it further
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the committee post notice of any public
   1-23  hearing on legislation at least 12 hours prior to the time of the
   1-24  hearing; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That, should the committee recommend such
    2-2  legislation for consideration by the house, the speaker be hereby
    2-3  authorized to schedule the legislation for such consideration and
    2-4  that the speaker cause the committee report to be printed and
    2-5  distributed to all members of the house at least 24 hours before
    2-6  consideration by the house; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That, upon the determination by the speaker that
    2-8  the committee has fulfilled its assigned purpose, the committee
    2-9  shall be considered discharged.
