                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas Junior College Student Government
    1-2  Association, comprising 44 institutions of higher learning and
    1-3  representing over 450,000 students, provides a valuable forum for
    1-4  student leaders at junior and community colleges throughout the
    1-5  state; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Each spring, in pursuit of educational opportunities
    1-7  and exchanges among participating member schools, the association
    1-8  holds an annual convention attended by approximately 400 to 500
    1-9  students; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Wharton County Junior College has been selected as
   1-11  host of the 1995 convention, to be coordinated by Buddy Smith, the
   1-12  college's director of student services; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, In alternating years, the association traditionally
   1-14  has met in the chamber of the Texas House of Representatives in
   1-15  Austin, where attendees use the final day to pass resolutions and
   1-16  to elect officers for the coming year; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The Texas Junior College Student Government
   1-18  Association has again requested that privilege, to be exercised on
   1-19  Sunday, April 2, 1995; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, It is appropriate that the Texas House of
   1-21  Representatives show its support for this exemplary organization
   1-22  and help cultivate the leaders of the future; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-24  Legislature, in accordance with house rules and the policies of the
    2-1  Committee on House Administration and provided that the house is
    2-2  not in session, hereby grant permission to the Texas Junior College
    2-3  Student Government Association to use the house chamber from 9 a.m.
    2-4  to 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 1995, for the purpose of conducting
    2-5  its annual convention.
