                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Clementine "Clem" Lear has selflessly devoted
    1-2  herself to the betterment of southwest Dallas County through a
    1-3  myriad of community-oriented activities; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native of Yonkers, New York, this exceptional
    1-5  individual was graduated from Endicott College with an associate of
    1-6  science degree in marketing; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Ms. Lear has been a valued employee of the Bell
    1-8  System for 28 years, having held positions in Mississippi, Florida,
    1-9  and Wisconsin before settling in Dallas 17 years ago; her current
   1-10  responsibilities with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as area
   1-11  manager of external affairs include serving as community
   1-12  representative, lobbying for legislative and regulatory reform, and
   1-13  administering the contribution budget for the Dallas area; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, This pillar of the community has given generously of
   1-15  her time and talents to numerous worthy organizations through the
   1-16  years, serving with distinction as chairman of the board of the
   1-17  Duncanville Chamber of Commerce, as president and chairman of the
   1-18  Best Southwest Economic Development Partnership, as vice-chairman
   1-19  of Duncanville Regional Arts, and as a member of the City of
   1-20  Duncanville Economic Development Task Force; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Among those organizations that are currently
   1-22  benefiting from her exemplary leadership and tireless work ethic
   1-23  are the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, City of Duncanville Main
   1-24  Street Advisory Board, Best Southwest Business Service Center,
    2-1  Duncanville Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Southwest Board, and
    2-2  Duncanville Noon Lions; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, For her many notable achievements, Ms. Lear was
    2-4  chosen as one of five Outstanding Women of Southwest Dallas County
    2-5  in 1992 and was nominated as Duncanville's Woman of the Year that
    2-6  same year; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has set standards for
    2-8  community involvement to which all others can aspire, and her many
    2-9  significant accomplishments in this regard are indeed worthy of
   2-10  special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-12  Legislature hereby commend Clementine Lear for her significant
   2-13  contributions to the betterment of her community and state and
   2-14  extend to her best wishes for continued success in the future; and,
   2-15  be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for Ms. Lear as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-18  House of Representatives.
