No. 21 74R993 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Quanah High School Indians boys' golf team has 1-2 reached the zenith of success by winning the 1994 University 1-3 Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 2A championship; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Although in fourth place after the first round and 1-5 down by 14 strokes at the beginning of the final day of competition 1-6 at the state golf tournament, this inspired group of young 1-7 linksters refused to be denied, bettering their previous day's 1-8 score by 19 shots to claim the coveted team title; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The team's outstanding success was the result of a 1-10 total team effort and the valuable contributions made by every 1-11 player, including Creed Akers, J.R. Combs, Chad Combs, Aaryn 1-12 Garcia, and Eddie Whitley; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Coach Jim Wood provided exceptional leadership and 1-14 guidance, instilling in his charges both the desire to excel and an 1-15 unshakable belief that their championship dream could be realized; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young men and their coach 1-18 have been a tremendous source of pride for the students and faculty 1-19 at Quanah High School and their many supporters in the community, 1-20 and their exceptional accomplishments have rightfully earned them 1-21 special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby congratulate coach Jim Wood and the Quanah High 1-24 School boys' golf squad on attaining the UIL Class 2A golf 2-1 championship and extend to them best wishes for continued success 2-2 in the future; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-4 for the coach and team members and that a copy be prepared for 2-5 prominent display at Quanah High School as an expression of high 2-6 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
