H.R. No. 34 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, January 23, 1995, marks a significant milestone in 1-2 the life of Winston Epting, for on that day he will celebrate the 1-3 momentous occasion of his 80th birthday; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Epting has a great deal in 1-5 common with another native son, Willie Nelson, as both were born in 1-6 the community of Abbott, love country music, and enjoy dressing in 1-7 western attire; and 1-8 WHEREAS, In 1942, Mr. Epting left the bright lights of Abbott 1-9 to move to Houston, where he enjoyed a rewarding career as a valued 1-10 employee of Halliburton for a quarter of a century; and 1-11 WHEREAS, During his full and generous life, this fine 1-12 gentleman has enjoyed the love and support of his devoted wife of 1-13 58 years, Lorene, and their marriage was blessed by the birth of 1-14 two daughters, Cecile Arnett and Sue Grant, who have in turn 1-15 presented their parents with three beloved granddaughters, Tori 1-16 Detwiler, Tina Maywald, and Robin Flores; and 1-17 WHEREAS, In recent years, their close-knit family has 1-18 continued to grow, and today the Eptings enjoy the company of six 1-19 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ben, and Rachel Detwiler, Lauren and 1-20 Taylor Flores, and Zachary Maywald; and 1-21 WHEREAS, At 80 years old, this spry octogenarian still lives 1-22 life to the fullest, remaining an avid sports enthusiast, a loving 1-23 husband, father, and grandparent, and a trusted friend to all who 1-24 are privileged to know him; on the occasion of his birthday, it is 2-1 indeed fitting that we recognize this remarkable gentleman for the 2-2 joy and happiness he has brought to so many people throughout his 2-3 lifetime; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby pay tribute to Winston Epting and extend warmest 2-6 congratulations to him on the occasion of his 80th birthday; and, 2-7 be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Epting as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
