No. 38 74R3563 PFG-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Americans recognize and appreciate the enormous 1-2 sacrifices made by United States military personnel who served 1-3 courageously in the Vietnam War and the conflict in Southeast Asia, 1-4 some of whom are still classified as missing in action; and 1-5 WHEREAS, While the status of most of the American soldiers 1-6 who lost their lives or were injured during this long military 1-7 engagement is certain, the fate of more than 2,000 military 1-8 personnel remains unknown decades after the United States' final 1-9 withdrawal from Vietnam; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The unresolved status of those brave individuals is, 1-11 understandably, a source of great concern for their families, their 1-12 friends, and their fellow citizens and represents a chapter in our 1-13 nation's history that cannot be satisfactorily concluded until 1-14 their whereabouts are known; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Recognizing the importance of this vital obligation 1-16 to American military personnel and their families, the United 1-17 States Congress has sought to locate these individuals in the past 1-18 and should continue to take all necessary steps to fulfill this 1-19 important duty in the future; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby request the Congress of the United States to 1-22 continue its efforts to determine the location and status of all 1-23 United States military personnel still missing in Southeast Asia; 1-24 and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-2 for the president of the United States, the speaker of the House of 2-3 Representatives of the United States Congress, the president of the 2-4 Senate of the United States Congress, and all members of the Texas 2-5 delegation to the congress.
