No. 48 74R3147 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On December 31, 1994, Billye Minter retired from her 1-2 position as the district clerk of Orange County, bringing to a 1-3 close a distinguished career in local government that spanned 25 1-4 years; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Ms. Minter first began her employment with Orange 1-6 County in 1969 as a clerk in the district clerk's office and 1-7 quickly developed a well-deserved reputation for excellence based 1-8 on her proven ability to discharge her duties with admirable 1-9 professionalism and expertise; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Equipped with a solid grounding in the workings of 1-11 the office, she ran for and was elected to the post of district 1-12 clerk in 1981, in which capacity she has ably served the citizens 1-13 of Orange County for the past 13 years; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Highly regarded by her colleagues, Ms. Minter has 1-15 served with distinction as an area leader in the County and 1-16 District Clerks Association and also has made many significant 1-17 contributions to the organization as a member of its legislative 1-18 committee; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Minter has shared her valuable 1-20 knowledge and expertise to the benefit of a number of other worthy 1-21 organizations, including the Orange Chamber of Commerce, the Lamar 1-22 Mid-Management Advisory Committee, the American Heart Association, 1-23 the Orange Business and Professional Women's Club, and the American 1-24 Business Women's Association in Bridge City, which has honored her 2-1 in the past as its Woman of the Year; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Ms. Minter's high degree of professionalism and 2-3 genuine commitment to her work throughout her exceptional tenure in 2-4 office have served as a source of inspiration to many people, and 2-5 it is indeed appropriate that she receive special legislative 2-6 recognition on the occasion of her retirement; now, therefore, be 2-7 it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby commend Billye Minter for her exemplary service 2-10 to the citizens of Orange County and extend sincere best wishes to 2-11 her for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for Ms. Minter as an expression of high regard by the 2-14 Texas House of Representatives.
