H.R. No. 65 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America, founded in 1910, is part 1-2 of a worldwide organization that encourages young men and boys in 1-3 the development of character, citizenship, and physical and mental 1-4 fitness; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Through training in outdoor skills and crafts, 1-6 scouting promotes familiarity with the natural world, and through 1-7 emphasis on community service, it promotes the knowledge and 1-8 leadership that contribute to a strong democracy; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Each year the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of 1-10 America, hosts the annual Scout Parade and Report to State, the 1-11 purposes of which are to celebrate scouting's birthday and report 1-12 on the condition of scouting throughout the State of Texas; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives commends the 1-14 goals and objectives of the Boy Scouts of America, congratulates 1-15 the organization on its 85th birthday, and welcomes the opportunity 1-16 to provide a setting for the Capitol Area Council's annual 1-17 activities; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-19 Legislature, in accordance with house rules and the policies of the 1-20 Committee on House Administration, hereby grant permission to the 1-21 Boy Scouts of America to use the house chamber on Saturday, 1-22 February 11, 1995, from 10 a.m. to noon, provided that the house is 1-23 not in session.
