R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Since the early 1970s, the Dallas Cowboys have been
1-2 the premier franchise in the National Football League, having
1-3 claimed four coveted world championship trophies in their seven
1-4 trips to the Super Bowl; and
1-5 WHEREAS, During the 1992 and 1993 seasons, the remarkable
1-6 group of talented athletes who comprise the current edition of the
1-7 team overwhelmed NFL opponents, taking back-to-back Super Bowl
1-8 victories over the Buffalo Bills; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Under owner Jerry Jones and new head coach Barry
1-10 Switzer, the 1994 Cowboy squad was again the team to beat,
1-11 completing the regular season with a record of 12 wins and 4
1-12 defeats and capturing the title in the rugged Eastern Division of
1-13 the National Football Conference for the third straight season; and
1-14 WHEREAS, The Cowboys faced Green Bay in their first playoff
1-15 contest and dominated the Packers on both sides of the ball,
1-16 cruising to their seventh consecutive playoff victory over a span
1-17 of three postseasons, 35-9; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Although falling behind early in the conference
1-19 championship game against San Francisco at Candlestick Park, Dallas
1-20 demonstrated the character and determination that have been the
1-21 hallmark of this exceptional squad, mounting a spirited comeback
1-22 before finally falling to the 49ers, 38-28; and
1-23 WHEREAS, The members of the Dallas Cowboys football team,
1-24 along with their coaches and staff, have set standards of success
2-1 to which all can aspire, and their many notable achievements on the
2-2 gridiron are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; now,
2-3 therefore, be it
2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate the Dallas Cowboys for their
2-6 remarkable accomplishments during the 1994 season and extend to
2-7 them best wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it
2-8 further
2-9 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
2-10 for the team and coaching staff as an expression of high regard by
2-11 the Texas House of Representatives.
