No. 69 74R3792 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Mildred Sullivan recently marked a noteworthy 1-2 occasion in her life when she celebrated her 105th birthday on 1-3 January 13, 1995; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born to Mr. and Mrs. William Peter Minor in Macon, 1-5 Mississippi, Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed the companionship and support of 1-6 five brothers and four sisters during her childhood; and 1-7 WHEREAS, She initially came to College Station in 1912 as the 1-8 young bride of Dr. James O. Morgan, who was the first head of the 1-9 Agronomy Department at the growing Texas A&M campus; the couple 1-10 enjoyed a fulfilling 20-year marriage until Dr. Morgan's death in 1-11 1932, and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Lucien and 1-12 James; and 1-13 WHEREAS, She later married James Sullivan, the business 1-14 director of the Athletic Department at Texas A&M, and her 1-15 association with that fine institution has continued over the 1-16 years; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A charter member and the oldest living member of the 1-18 A&M United Methodist Church, Mrs. Sullivan also participated in the 1-19 activities of the Texas A&M University faculty wives for many 1-20 years; and 1-21 WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has led a rich and rewarding 1-22 life filled with many happy times and cherished memories; born into 1-23 a world that had yet to see radios, airplanes, or even automobiles, 1-24 Mrs. Sullivan has witnessed dramatic changes over the years, but 2-1 throughout her lifetime she has maintained her faith in God and her 2-2 positive outlook on life; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Mildred Sullivan on the occasion of 2-5 her 105th birthday and extend to her warmest best wishes for 2-6 continued health and happiness in the future; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mrs. Sullivan as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
