H.R. No. 76 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On March 25, 1995, at a traditional Eagle Court of 1-2 Honor, Ryan Bruce Salinas of Scout Troop 604 in Houston will 1-3 receive well-deserved recognition for his outstanding achievements 1-4 in scouting when he is awarded the coveted silver insignia denoting 1-5 his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout; and 1-6 WHEREAS, An active member of Troop 604 for the past six 1-7 years, this exceptional young man has amply proven his worthiness 1-8 of this great honor by exemplifying scouting's highest ideals and 1-9 persevering in the pursuit of his goals with noteworthy dedication; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, In addition to earning 44 merit badges by 1-12 demonstrating his knowledge and mastery of skills in a wide range 1-13 of fields, he has served his fellow scouts in Troop 604 in numerous 1-14 positions of responsibility, thereby demonstrating the superior 1-15 leadership ability that is a requisite characteristic of all Eagle 1-16 Scouts; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Diligently applying the habits and values developed 1-18 through his participation in scouting activities, Eagle Scout 1-19 Salinas has further distinguished himself and excelled in other 1-20 areas of endeavor at school and in the community; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A well-rounded and multitalented individual, he has 1-22 participated in extracurricular activities and provided admirable 1-23 student leadership as a class representative on the high school 1-24 student council during his freshman and sophomore years and as 2-1 student council vice president during his junior year; and 2-2 WHEREAS, He has served as a representative for the student 2-3 body in other ways as well, addressing pressing issues and 2-4 articulately voicing many of the concerns of his peers as an 2-5 editorial writer for the high school newspaper and representing the 2-6 students' point of view as one of only two student members on the 2-7 school's site-based management committee; and 2-8 WHEREAS, Highly regarded by his fellow students, this 2-9 exemplary young man has earned faculty recognition as well in the 2-10 form of a Principal's Award for Outstanding Leadership; other 2-11 honors awarded him for excellent achievement include a first place 2-12 trophy for editorial writing in University Interscholastic League 2-13 academic competition; and 2-14 WHEREAS, Striving to put into practice in his daily life the 2-15 principles and ideals that are the cornerstone of the scouting 2-16 movement, Eagle Scout Salinas has been a constant source of pride 2-17 to his parents, Bruce and Tillie Salinas, and an inspiration to his 2-18 fellow scouts in Troop 604, and his attainment of scouting's 2-19 highest honor is truly an accomplishment worthy of special praise 2-20 and recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-22 Legislature hereby congratulate Ryan Bruce Salinas on his notable 2-23 accomplishment in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and earning the 2-24 right to wear the silver insignia symbolic of his supreme 2-25 achievement as a member of the Boy Scouts of America; and, be it 2-26 further 2-27 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 3-1 prepared for Eagle Scout Salinas as an expression of high esteem by 3-2 the Texas House of Representatives.
