                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Bernard Rapoport consistently has devoted his time
    1-2  and energies to the betterment of his fellowman, and in recognition
    1-3  of his exceptional record of community service he recently was
    1-4  designated the 1995 recipient of the Madison Cooper Award; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A highly successful entrepreneur, Mr. Rapoport has
    1-6  demonstrated exceptional leadership and business acumen as board
    1-7  chairman and chief executive officer of the American Income Life
    1-8  Insurance Company; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, This exemplary individual is the guiding force
   1-10  behind the Rapoport Foundation, the largest grant-making foundation
   1-11  in the Waco area; in addition to overseeing the foundation's work,
   1-12  he labors tirelessly in behalf of such worthy organizations as the
   1-13  Art Center, the Central Texas Sickle Cell Anemia Association, the
   1-14  United Way, and the Waco Boys Club Foundation; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, He also is active in a variety of other concerns,
   1-16  serving with distinction on the board of directors of Religion in
   1-17  American Life, the American Jewish Congress, the Economic Policy
   1-18  Institute, and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies
   1-19  and as a member of The University of Texas Board of Regents; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Throughout his productive life, Bernard Rapoport has
   1-21  sought to create a brighter future for his fellow Texans, and his
   1-22  many notable contributions in this regard are indeed worthy of
   1-23  special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   1-24        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-1  Legislature hereby commend Bernard Rapoport on his exemplary
    2-2  community service and designation as recipient of the 1995 Madison
    2-3  Cooper Award and extend to him best wishes for continued success in
    2-4  all his endeavors; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-6  prepared for Mr. Rapoport as an expression of high regard by the
    2-7  Texas House of Representatives.
