                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Our nation's public school system is a beacon to the
    1-2  world in its unswerving commitment to meeting the needs of all its
    1-3  children, without regard to race, wealth, or disability, and the
    1-4  Arp Independent School District Board of Trustees exemplifies the
    1-5  highest ideals of this fine system; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A reliable system of public education is vital to
    1-7  the quality of life of all Texans, and as we approach the 21st
    1-8  century, it will be the key to the future economic strength of this
    1-9  great nation; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Local boards of education have made our public
   1-11  schools both flexible and responsive to local, state, and national
   1-12  concerns while adhering to the fundamental ideal of representative
   1-13  government; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Board members generously give of their leadership,
   1-15  knowledge, vision, and time to serve as advocates for our children,
   1-16  and in doing so they help the children reach their highest
   1-17  potential; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, More than 7,000 Texans serve on school boards in
   1-19  their communities, where they continually strive to improve the
   1-20  quality of education in our state; Texans everywhere should
   1-21  recognize and appreciate the many contributions made by our locally
   1-22  elected board members and support them as they approach the
   1-23  challenge of educating tomorrow's leaders; now, therefore, be it
   1-24        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-1  Legislature hereby honor the members of the Arp Independent School
    2-2  District Board of Trustees: Wayne Roberts, DeLane Sanders, Philip
    2-3  Allen, LaJean Taliaferro, Helen Herrin, and Vernon D. Rivers, Jr.,
    2-4  and commend them for their outstanding commitment to the youth of
    2-5  their community; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-7  prepared for the Arp Independent School District Board of Trustees
    2-8  as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
    2-9  Representatives.
