R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Caribbean American Carnival Day Association,
1-2 Inc., is sponsoring Dallas Caribbean Carnival Day 1995, and that
1-3 gala event will be held in Fair Park on August 18-20, 1995; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Anticipating as many as 20,000 participants, this
1-5 extraordinary celebration will include representatives of 27
1-6 Caribbean islands and 14 organizations from the United States and
1-7 Canada; and
1-8 WHEREAS, This magnificent fete will feature steel-drum bands,
1-9 a street parade, art and dance exhibitions, and hearty offerings of
1-10 food and drink with a distinctly Caribbean flavor; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Caribbean Americans have made significant
1-12 contributions to the cause of freedom throughout our country's
1-13 history; they also have enriched our cultural heritage with their
1-14 music, art, and traditions; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Providing an exceptional variety of entertainment,
1-16 this unique appreciation of the Caribbean American heritage
1-17 promises a joyous and enlightening experience to all its attendees,
1-18 and for promoting a higher level of cultural awareness in our
1-19 citizenry the Dallas Caribbean Carnival Day 1995 truly merits
1-20 special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby recognize the Dallas Caribbean Carnival Day 1995
1-23 festival as a significant event whose celebration will greatly
1-24 enhance the colorful tapestry of Texas culture; and, be it further
2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of the resolution be prepared
2-2 for the Caribbean American Carnival Day Association, Inc., as an
2-3 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
