                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, W. H. "Bill" Larkin tirelessly has devoted his
    1-2  numerous talents and boundless energy to the betterment of his
    1-3  fellowman as a public servant and community leader; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Endowed with an entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Larkin
    1-5  was owner of the Larkin Packer Company in the 1950s and 1960s,
    1-6  during which time he used his keen business acumen to bring a high
    1-7  level of success to that enterprise; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, He became mayor of Waxahachie in 1969 and served the
    1-9  city with distinction until 1976; his productive tenure in that
   1-10  difficult and demanding position was marked by a growing level of
   1-11  prosperity throughout the community; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Notably generous with the fruits of his success,
   1-13  this outstanding individual has enabled over 40 local students to
   1-14  pursue their higher education through the Larkin Scholarship Fund,
   1-15  and through his efforts and those of his family an additional wing
   1-16  was added to the Sims Library; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mr. Larkin also has served the needs of his fellow
   1-18  citizens through his active involvement in such worthy
   1-19  organizations as the Waxahachie Foundation, the W. C. Tenery
   1-20  Community Hospital Board, the Waxahachie YMCA, the Waxahachie
   1-21  Chamber of Commerce, the Penn Park Pool, and the Waxahachie Rotary
   1-22  Club; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, W. H. "Bill" Larkin has demonstrated a truly
   1-24  remarkable level of commitment to the improvement of his community,
    2-1  and his many significant achievements in that regard indeed merit
    2-2  special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-4  Legislature hereby honor W. H. "Bill" Larkin on his many
    2-5  accomplishments in service to his fellow citizens and extend to him
    2-6  best wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-8  prepared for Mr. Larkin as an expression of high regard by the
    2-9  Texas House of Representatives.
