H.R. No. 142 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 65 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a 1-3 memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Jewell and Munsey Bass of Waxahachie recently 1-5 commemorated one such event on January 30, 1995, when they 1-6 celebrated 65 years of mutual affection and devotion; and 1-7 WHEREAS, United in marriage on January 30, 1930, in Durant, 1-8 Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. Bass have resided in Waxahachie for most of 1-9 their lives; Mr. Bass operated one of the city's finest service 1-10 stations until his retirement in 1960; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Both husband and wife have been active in a variety 1-12 of worthy civic concerns; Mr. Bass helped organize the Waxahachie 1-13 Optimist Club, serving as its first president, and also was 1-14 president of the Jaycees, and Mrs. Bass was president of the 1-15 Opti-Mrs. Club and an active member of the Century Club and the 1-16 Waxahachie Garden Club; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bass have shared their strong religious 1-18 beliefs throughout their marriage, demonstrating their abiding 1-19 faith as active members of the First United Methodist Church; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The Basses have earned the lasting esteem and 1-21 affection of their many friends and neighbors, and it is indeed 1-22 appropriate that they be honored as they celebrate this significant 1-23 milestone in their marriage; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby congratulate Jewell and Munsey Bass on the 2-2 momentous occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to 2-3 them sincere best wishes for continued happiness in the future; 2-4 and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Jewell and Munsey Bass as an expression of high regard 2-7 by the Texas House of Representatives.
