                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Aline Harper retired from office as the district
    1-2  clerk of Hardin County in December 1994, drawing to a close a
    1-3  distinguished tenure with the county that has spanned more than
    1-4  four decades; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A native Texan, she was born and reared in Hardin
    1-6  County and began her outstanding career in local government as a
    1-7  deputy county clerk in 1957; while employed by the county clerk's
    1-8  office, she accepted increasingly challenging responsibilities
    1-9  within the department until 1968, when she was appointed to the
   1-10  office of district clerk without opposition; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Returned by the voters to her post for more than 25
   1-12  years, Ms. Harper upheld the duties of her office with the utmost
   1-13  integrity, earning the respect and admiration of the four judges
   1-14  she worked for during her remarkable tenure as well as area
   1-15  citizens for her extensive efforts in their behalf; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Aline Harper has set an inspiring example of
   1-17  leadership and professional excellence over the course of her
   1-18  career, and she is indeed deserving of special legislative
   1-19  recognition on the momentous occasion of her retirement from public
   1-20  office; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-22  Legislature hereby commend Aline Harper for her exceptional service
   1-23  as the district clerk of Hardin County and extend to her warmest
   1-24  best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it
    2-1  further
    2-2        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-3  prepared for Ms. Harper as an expression of high regard by the
    2-4  Texas House of Representatives.
