                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The owners and employees of McCorvey Sheet Metal
    1-2  Works were accorded a great honor on January 26, 1995, when their
    1-3  company was named Business of the Year by the Galena Park Chamber
    1-4  of Commerce; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, From its humble beginning in San Antonio in 1929,
    1-6  the company has grown to be a driving force in the industry, but it
    1-7  has never lost sight of the family-oriented focus that founder
    1-8  Willis McCorvey valued above all else; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, In fact, Mr. McCorvey put the business aside during
   1-10  World War II so he could more fully devote himself to civil
   1-11  service; his dedication to the United States' war effort was
   1-12  heightened by his concern for his son, Raymond, who was serving as
   1-13  an aviation metalsmith for the Navy; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Raymond McCorvey's wartime experience making
   1-15  replacement parts for airplanes gave him the expertise to design
   1-16  and create innovative machinery, and his efforts eventually earned
   1-17  him four United States patents; when the war ended, the McCorveys
   1-18  relocated their company to Galena Park, where they decided to
   1-19  specialize in the growing air conditioning industry; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Their system of creating air conditioning ductwork
   1-21  soon became the standard for other companies to follow, and
   1-22  McCorvey Sheet Metal Works grew to become one of the largest plants
   1-23  of its kind in the world; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Today, the company continues to dominate the
    2-1  industry in innovation, quality control, and reputation as a fourth
    2-2  generation of McCorveys prepares to lead the business into the
    2-3  high-tech world of the 21st century; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Willis McCorvey's uncompromising dedication to his
    2-5  family and to the high caliber of his work built a strong
    2-6  foundation for this dynamic business, and today the company that
    2-7  bears his name is synonymous not only with success, but also with
    2-8  integrity, ingenuity, and quality workmanship; now, therefore, be
    2-9  it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby congratulate the owners and employees of
   2-12  McCorvey Sheet Metal Works on earning the accolade of Business of
   2-13  the Year from the Galena Park Chamber of Commerce and extend to
   2-14  them warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success;
   2-15  and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for prominent display at McCorvey Sheet Metal Works as an
   2-18  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
