H.R. No. 153 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of Byron B. "Buck" White on 1-2 November 22, 1994, at the age of 73, has brought a great loss to 1-3 the many friends and family of this distinguished Lubbock resident; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born February 25, 1921, in Portland, Oregon, 1-6 Mr. White attended high school in Roswell, New Mexico, and went on 1-7 to graduate from the New Mexico Military Institute in 1940; and 1-8 WHEREAS, This patriotic individual put his military training 1-9 to good use shortly thereafter when he answered his country's call 1-10 to arms in World War II; after completing his tour of duty in the 1-11 United States Navy, he returned home to New Mexico and contributed 1-12 his time and energy to the community as a member of the Roswell 1-13 Independent School District Board of Trustees; and 1-14 WHEREAS, In 1957, Mr. White moved to Lubbock and embarked on 1-15 a fulfilling career with Southland Life Insurance Company; he 1-16 worked as an agent for that company for more than 37 years, and in 1-17 that time, he became a prominent member of his community; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A devout member of Westminster Presbyterian Church 1-19 and a Paul Harris Fellow, this esteemed civic leader also served 1-20 his friends and neighbors in Lubbock through his work with the 1-21 Methodist Hospital Board of Trustees, the Methodist Hospital 1-22 Auxiliary, and the Lubbock Rotary Club, the last of which he served 1-23 as president; and 1-24 WHEREAS, For more than 50 years, Mr. White enjoyed a warm and 2-1 loving relationship with his wife, Dorothy Lambeth White; united in 2-2 marriage on February 19, 1943, they were blessed with a son, Alan, 2-3 and in later years their family grew to include two beautiful 2-4 granddaughters; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Byron B. "Buck" White set a fine example of 2-6 community leadership and social responsibility for his fellow 2-7 Texans, and his dedicated efforts in behalf of the people of 2-8 Lubbock will not soon be forgotten; although his presence is gone 2-9 from us, his unique spirit will live on in the hearts of the many 2-10 people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-12 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Byron B. "Buck" White 2-13 and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-14 wife, Dorothy Lambeth White; to his son, Alan White; to his two 2-15 granddaughters; and to all the friends and relatives of this fine 2-16 gentleman; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-19 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-20 Byron B. "Buck" White.
