                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS,  The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
    1-2  honor Opportunities In Tyler, Inc., for its outstanding
    1-3  contributions to the community; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A nonprofit business partially funded by the United
    1-5  Way, Opportunities In Tyler, Inc., trains and pays disabled and
    1-6  mentally retarded individuals to perform a variety of useful jobs
    1-7  in a sheltered environment; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The organization is committed to maintaining high
    1-9  standards, and in the rare event that work cannot be completed
   1-10  efficiently, it is contracted out to other local businesses; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Established nearly three decades ago by civic groups
   1-12  concerned with the lack of economic opportunities available for the
   1-13  disabled and mentally retarded, this multifaceted enterprise
   1-14  provides numerous worthwhile services and products to 41 businesses
   1-15  in the Tyler area; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Goods produced by Opportunities In Tyler, Inc.,
   1-17  include a commercial-grade paper towel that is sold statewide and
   1-18  that accounts for approximately 40 percent of the organization's
   1-19  annual volume; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Providing opportunity through economic enterprise,
   1-21  this admirable business has truly made a positive difference in the
   1-22  lives of its clients and merits special legislative recognition for
   1-23  its exemplary efforts in this regard; now, therefore, be it
   1-24        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-1  Legislature hereby commend Opportunities In Tyler, Inc., for the
    2-2  significant role it has played in the empowerment of the disabled
    2-3  and mentally retarded community and its exceptional contributions
    2-4  to the economy of East Texas; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-6  prepared for Opportunities In Tyler, Inc., as an expression of high
    2-7  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
