No. 171 74R5487 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Luella Moore Curlin Autrey, on 1-2 December 14, 1994, at the age of 80, has brought a great loss to 1-3 the many friends and relatives of this fine lady; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The daughter of Lemuel C. and Margaret Cecile Moore 1-5 Curlin, she was born November 11, 1914, in Waxahachie, and was 1-6 graduated from Trinity University before going on to take graduate 1-7 courses in drama at Northwestern University; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A gracious and dynamic lady, she contributed greatly 1-9 to the betterment of the community through her commendable service 1-10 in the First Lady program of Waxahachie; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Autrey also was well regarded throughout the 1-12 community as an English teacher with the Waxahachie Independent 1-13 School District, and in the course of her 30-year career, she 1-14 encouraged and helped two generations of students to reach their 1-15 highest potential; and 1-16 WHEREAS, In addition to her fine work in these areas, 1-17 Mrs. Autrey gave generously of her time, talent, and energies to 1-18 the benefit of several worthy organizations, including the Ellis 1-19 County Museum, the Century Club, and the Garden Club, and she was 1-20 an esteemed member of the Women's Association and the City 1-21 Federation Club; and 1-22 WHEREAS, A woman of boundless energies and enthusiasm, she 1-23 always made time in her busy schedule for travelling and especially 1-24 enjoyed her sojourns to Ireland, which is her family's ancestral 2-1 home; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Mrs. Autrey will be remembered fondly as a devoutly 2-3 religious woman who served the members of her religious community 2-4 as an elder of Central Presbyterian Church and as a Sunday school 2-5 teacher for many years; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Throughout her many endeavors, she enjoyed the love 2-7 and support of her devoted husband, Dock Autrey, who preceded her 2-8 in death, and the couple's two fine children, Jeff Autrey and the 2-9 late Cecile Autrey Ham; and 2-10 WHEREAS, This exceptional woman touched the lives of many 2-11 people during her long and fruitful life and, though her presence 2-12 will be deeply missed, her memory will endure in the hearts of 2-13 those who came to know and love her; now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-15 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Luella Moore Curlin 2-16 Autrey and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to 2-17 her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Pam Autrey; to her 2-18 son-in-law, Bill Ham; to her grandchildren, Amber Autrey and Jordan 2-19 Autrey; to her three brothers, Tom Curlin, Jack Curlin, and Lem 2-20 Curlin; and to the many other friends and relatives of this beloved 2-21 woman; and, be it further 2-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-23 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-24 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-25 Luella Moore Curlin Autrey.
