                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Noted for its longstanding commitment to excellence
    1-2  in education, Plano East High School received national recognition
    1-3  when it was designated by Redbook magazine as one of America's Best
    1-4  Schools for its innovative and successful academic programs; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, This prestigious award is given only to those
    1-6  schools that demonstrate the highest level of excellence in the
    1-7  areas of academic achievement, classroom innovation,
    1-8  parent/community involvement, extracurricular activities,
    1-9  special-needs programs, and vocational/technical training; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, In addition to receiving recognition as one of
   1-11  America's Best Schools, Plano East High School gained further
   1-12  honors by achieving "Best of the State" distinction; as one of this
   1-13  select group representing the best from each of the 50 states and
   1-14  the District of Columbia, Plano East High School will receive a
   1-15  grant from the Sega Youth Education and Health Foundation; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Plano East High School has established standards of
   1-17  educational excellence to which all schools can aspire, and the
   1-18  superlative achievements of the students, faculty, staff, and
   1-19  community in reaching this vital goal are indeed worthy of special
   1-20  legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-22  Legislature hereby congratulate Plano East High School on its
   1-23  well-deserved designation by Redbook magazine as one of America's
   1-24  Best Schools and extend to those involved with that fine
    2-1  institution best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
    2-2        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-3  prepared for prominent display at Plano East High School as an
    2-4  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
