No. 193 74R5698 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Bill Herring has made significant contributions to 1-2 the Texas artistic landscape, bringing to his works an elegance and 1-3 beauty possessed by few in his field; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This El Paso resident attended Texas A&M University 1-5 and was graduated with a degree in international relations and 1-6 South American history; disinclined to follow an artistic career at 1-7 that point, he applied his energies to managing his father's dairy 1-8 farm in Clint; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mr. Herring, whose mother, Jan, is a well-respected 1-10 artist, teacher, and author, eventually was driven by his need for 1-11 artistic fulfillment to give up his other pursuits; initially 1-12 working with oil paints, he later found pastels to be the ideal 1-13 medium for his bold and colorful works; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An expert at expressionistic landscapes, Mr. Herring 1-15 creates vivid and often daring visions of the Southwest, imbuing in 1-16 them his distinct perceptions of that vast and inspirational 1-17 region; and 1-18 WHEREAS, He is an active and articulate voice in his field 1-19 and has served with distinction as president of Knickerbocker 1-20 Artists-NY; Mr. Herring also maintains membership in the Pastel 1-21 Society of America, the Academic Artists of America, and the 1-22 American Artists Professional League; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The expression of beauty in any form of artistic 1-24 endeavor is one of man's most ennobling pursuits, and by 2-1 consistently capturing the essence of nature's wonders and 2-2 expressing them in an accessible and moving way, Bill Herring has 2-3 created a body of work truly worthy of special legislative 2-4 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby commend Bill Herring for his many significant 2-7 artistic achievements and extend to him best wishes for continued 2-8 success in the future; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Bill Herring as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
