No. 205 74R5379 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, With an outstanding performance at the state meet in 1-2 November, the Kingwood High School Lady Mustangs girls' 1-3 cross-country team attained a cherished dream, winning the 1994 1-4 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 5A state championship 1-5 and finishing the season undefeated; and 1-6 WHEREAS, After achieving runner-up status in the state 1-7 competitions the previous two years, the Lady Mustangs stepped onto 1-8 the course in Georgetown determined to reach the pinnacle of 1-9 success, and through a spirited effort they claimed the coveted 1-10 championship trophy; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The season's accomplishments were a result of superb 1-12 individual performances all season long by team members Michelle 1-13 Goertz, Laura Offenbacher, Elizabeth Brusevold, Caroline Kohler, 1-14 Gabby Raymond, Lindsay Rinnan, and Reagan Rosata; their exceptional 1-15 collective achievements also garnered national recognition as the 1-16 Harrier Magazine Coaches' Poll ranked the Lady Mustangs among the 1-17 top 10 girls' cross-country teams in the nation; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Unrelenting dedication and encouragement were the 1-19 hallmark of coach John Barr, whose tireless efforts helped inspire 1-20 his team to fulfill their potential and to realize their 1-21 championship dream; and 1-22 WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young women along with their 1-23 coaches and staff have been a tremendous source of pride for the 1-24 students and faculty at Kingwood High School and their many 2-1 supporters in the community, and their noteworthy achievements are 2-2 indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, 2-3 be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate the Kingwood High School Lady 2-6 Mustangs cross-country team on winning the 1994 UIL Class 5A 2-7 championship; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-9 for the team members and coaching staff and that a copy be prepared 2-10 for prominent display at Kingwood High School as an expression of 2-11 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
