                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, An outstanding Texas teacher, Margaret R. Zinn,
    1-2  recently achieved national recognition as a deserving recipient of
    1-3  the 1994 NCEA Distinguished Teacher Award from the National
    1-4  Catholic Educational Association's Department of Elementary
    1-5  Schools; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A popular and gifted classroom instructor at St.
    1-7  Mark Catholic School in Plano since 1985, Ms. Zinn was one of only
    1-8  12 teachers, each representing a distinct geographic area of the
    1-9  country, who were selected to receive this prestigious honor from
   1-10  among the 96,000 Catholic elementary school teachers nationwide;
   1-11  and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The NCEA Distinguished Teacher Award is bestowed on
   1-13  individuals with a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in
   1-14  parochial elementary schools who have incorporated a clear and
   1-15  integrated philosophy of Catholic education into the classroom
   1-16  setting and who are highly regarded by the school's community; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Ms. Zinn's nomination received the overwhelming
   1-18  endorsement of St.  Mark's faculty, staff, students, and parents
   1-19  and is particularly noteworthy in that she was awarded this honor
   1-20  in the first year of her eligibility; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, This talented educator motivates her students by
   1-22  making the learning process fun and inspires her students to embark
   1-23  on their personal quest for knowledge by opening their eyes to
   1-24  education's many marvels and rewards; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Outside the classroom, Ms. Zinn is a devoted wife
    2-2  whose interest in and affection for children comes to her naturally
    2-3  as the loving mother of a son in the eighth grade at St. Mark and a
    2-4  daughter who is a sophomore at Ursuline Academy; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, During her accomplished tenure at St. Mark Catholic
    2-6  School, Margaret Zinn has benefited the next generation of Texans
    2-7  by preparing her students intellectually, culturally, and
    2-8  spiritually for their eventual role as responsible and thoughtful
    2-9  adults; in light of her most recent achievement, this outstanding
   2-10  educator is indeed deserving of special praise and legislative
   2-11  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby congratulate Margaret R. Zinn on receiving the
   2-14  1994 NCEA Distinguished Teacher Award and extend to her warmest
   2-15  best wishes for continued success and happiness in the years to
   2-16  come; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-18  prepared for Ms. Zinn as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-19  House of Representatives.
