H.R. No. 209 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of William J. "Bill" Clemons, 1-2 Sr., father of Representative Billy Clemons, has brought a great 1-3 loss to the many friends and relatives of this highly respected and 1-4 esteemed gentleman; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born on May 28, 1922, in Cumby, Texas, Mr. Clemons 1-6 devoted most of his adult life to the education of the children of 1-7 Texas, building a distinguished career in public education that won 1-8 him the admiration and respect of his colleagues and peers 1-9 throughout the state; and 1-10 WHEREAS, As a young man, he served in the Army Air Corps 1-11 during World War II before obtaining a bachelor of science degree 1-12 at East Texas State University and a master's degree at Texas A&I 1-13 University and becoming a member of the Hopkins County Masonic 1-14 Lodge; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Clemons was a dedicated public servant in the 1-16 capacities of teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent in 1-17 several Texas school districts, including 35 years at Chapel Hill 1-18 I.S.D.; and 1-19 WHEREAS, He not only was a devoted husband who enjoyed a 1-20 happy and successful marriage of over 50 years with his wife, Dot, 1-21 but was a devoted father as well and took great pride in the 1-22 accomplishments of his three children and four grandchildren; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Bill Clemons was a man of dedication and integrity; 1-24 although his wit, wisdom, and compassion will be greatly missed by 2-1 all who were fortunate to know him, his remarkable spirit will 2-2 surely live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he 2-3 touched during his time on earth; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Bill Clemons and extend deep 2-6 condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Doris 2-7 Crawford Clemons; to his daughters, Becky and Angie Clemons; to his 2-8 son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Alea Clemons; to his brother, G. 2-9 L. Clemons; to his beloved grandchildren; and to his numerous 2-10 friends and colleagues; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-12 for the members of his family as an expression of sincere sympathy 2-13 by the Texas House of Representatives.
